Cheats

(Sorry, Mac Simmers, Windows only)

To enable the cheat box press CNTRL SHIFT C.- all at once. The main screen will darken a little and a dark command line will appear at the top of the screen. Then copy the commands in bold in the left-hand column into the command line (also known as console). if necessary replacing names and numbers with the appropritate - eg familyfunds Torley 20000 will set the funds for that family to 20000 exactly.

moveObjects on Allows movement of normally immobile objects and into places normally unreachable   You can't delete the mailbox and trash can
moveObjects off returns game to the default setting  
resetSim [First name] [Last name] Resets Sim with neutral motives, no moodlets, and teleports Sim back home. May be useful in retrieving kidnapped babies and toddlers, or when they get stuck because of a routing error.  
quit Exits the game  

Money Cheats

    
familyfunds See below.  
freerealestate the game ignores the cost of buying a house so a Sim with no money can buy the home you chose for him. This cheat must be entered before selecting the family you wish to move in or it doesn't work.
     
kaching adds 1,000 to active household's money.  
motherlode adds 50,000 to active household's money  
     
     

Building Cheats

    
constrainFloorElevation false Default is true

 

Just as in Sims 2, allows some special building techniques
  • Walls, floors, and objects will move with the terrain, allowing creation of sloped walls and floored hills.
  • BUT Placing new walls/floors will still flatten terrain.
  • BUT Placing objects will still require the terrain to be flat initially if the objects normally require it.
  • Turn it off when you have finished using it!
     

Furniture

    
disableSnappingToSlotsOnAlt on When on, objects will not snap to slots while holding ALT. Default is ON Useful for placing objects such as chairs near tables without them snapping or placing counters near other counters.
disableSnappingToSlotsOnAlt off to return to normal snapping  

moveobjects on

 allows movement of some things not otherwise possible  

TestingCheatsEnabled Cheats

 This is a precursor cheat, opening up a whole new range of cheats.
TestingCheatsEnabled true allows dynamic dragging of motives, is what was in Sims 2 called debug mode. For instance, you can fill a Sim's hunger bar rapidly when they are starving. Or empty it fast and completely to kill them. (No action will be seen until you return to Play Mode).
TestingCheatsEnabled false stops TestingCheatsEnabled - should not be necessary, as it is less dangerous to use than the Sims 2 version.
buydebug   Allows purchase of special items. Needs testingcheatsenabled true to work

familyfunds Torley 20000 sets Torley family's funds to 20000 IF all family members have the same surname. needs testingcheatsenabled true to work.
Shift+Click Sims Cheats

These come up in pie chart formation as clickable.
Modify Traits Allows you to change the traits of the selected Sim.  
Trigger Age Transition Brings on a birthday for selected Sim. You can also do this at any point in a Sim's life with a birthday cake.
Add To Active Family Adds the selected Sim to the current household. This can be done on Community Lots.

A visiting Sim can add a Sim in hir house to the visitor's family, as that is the active one.
Set Age Set the age of the Sim.  
Edit In CAS Takes the Sim back into Create A Sim and allows you to make physical and personality changes.  

Careers

 need TestingCheatsEnabled true. then click on Sim's career building to bring up the actions
Force All Events Click on career building to display all events for the career consecutively.  
Teleport need TestingCheatsEnabled true. shift-click the ground
     
Shift Click on Career Buildings Cheats    
Force Opportunity Click on career building you work at to force an opportunity.  
Force Event Click on a career building to give you a random career event.  
Force All Events Click on career building to display all events for the career consecutively.  
     
Shift Click on Mailbox Cheats    
Force Service Sim Force a specific Service Sim to show up.  
Force Visitor Force a neighbor to show up.  
Make Friends For Me Make a few random friends for the selected Sim.  
Make Happy Set the mood/moodlets of everyone in the house to perfect. Remove all negative moodlets.  
Make Me Know Everyone Make the selected Sim know every other Sim that exists in the town. Set them to acquaintances.  
Make Motives Static/Dynamic Make motives static/dynamic for the entire household.  
Set Career Give the selected Sim any career at any level.
